The progress reports

Each week (hopefully) we update this page with new photos of instruments in progress. The updates are usually made on Monday.

We hope that you enjoy seeing the progress on your instrument and those of others who have them on order.

Week ending July 8, 2002

VG34: the amplification system is installed, the chanters are on, and the wheel is being scraped.

VG34: Meanwhile, the keys are being fitted.

VG35: the final coats of finish are being applied

The handle for VG35

VG36: the channel is being cut for the binding

Pimpard: the wheel "sandwich" is mounted on a faceplate, and the brass insert is glued in place.

Dowels are being glued into deep holes to stabilize the peghead and keybox of the Germain...

...while the back sections are being glued back together...

...and reinforced with cross-grain cleats.

A silicone mold is being made for a casting of the peghead of this historic instrument.

See last week for more pictures.
