The progress reports

Each week (hopefully) we update this page with new photos of instruments in progress. The updates are usually made on Monday.

We hope that you enjoy seeing the progress on your instrument and those of others who have them on order.

Week ending September 16, 2002

We spent the first part of the week moving in and unpacking. It's not all done yet, but we've made a lot of progress.

In the studio, tt's looking more and more like a mixing bench for finish. There's a huge pile of empty boxes outside for recycling, and we made two trips to the landfill.

The ceiling hooks are back, and most of the antique vielles awaiting restoration are back in place on them. At right is the beginning of LB4's body.

New storage bins for parts are mounted on the wall in the corner, and the drawing table has a new home next to them. The shelves above are project supplies and tools in more storage bins.

Tippy has a new dog bed on the floor beside the bins.

Alden's bench top is visible and usable for the first time in over a month. Here the Gavinies is getting its wheel scraped. This instrument is dated from 1764. Our hope is to have it ready for the festival for one of the instructors to play.

Cali's bench is back in action also. The blue case contains a Colson luteback which we had restored. It needed more setup work and is going back to its owner on Tuesday.

The Germaine is getting its keys shimmed out and is being restrung.

The Thouvenel is restrung, has a new tourne-a-gauche, and is settling to prepare it for final setup.

The Reichmann is being fitted with a divider for the keybox shelf, and the chanter nuts are being refitted.

See last week for more pictures.
