The progress reports

Each week (hopefully) we update this page with new photos of instruments in progress. The updates are usually made on Monday.

We hope that you enjoy seeing the progress on your instrument and those of others who have them on order.

Week ending October 14, 2002

We've got all the wood and miscellaneous tools and other stuff moved out of the music room, finally, so we can go back to practicing music there (novel concept, eh?). Here are the new shelves in the shop, full of instrument parts and other wood stock. At right is the body of VG36.

We bid the Thouvenel farewell. Bon voyage!!

Here's the Doyle luteback ready to have its wheel and shaft removed.

A Minstrel returns for installation of a drapeau (capo) on each drone. Here the positions of the holes are being laid out preparatory to drilling.

To make the little sleeves shown above, we used the bandsaw to cut slices from pieces of desert ironwood. The slices are then cut into squares for turning on the lathe.

This is some more of the tests of inlay materials for VG36, but Cali said it's "top secret" and we can't show it yet.

Cali is making an experimental keybox for a new key design.

The Grandchamp with the wheel and shaft removed.

LB4 is finally back in the works.

See last week for more pictures.
