The progress reports

Each week (hopefully) we update this page with new photos of instruments in progress. The updates are usually made on Monday.

We hope that you enjoy seeing the progress on your instrument and those of others who have them on order.

Week ending February 3, 2003

LB4: gluing in the linings

:

VG36: Cali is inlaying the wheel cover with crushed gemstones and powdered metals

VG36: Here's the wheel cover after sanding and some finishing

VG37: With the masking of the soundboard completed, the finishing begins

.VG37, VG39: The pegheads get their inlay pieces glued in and sanded flush

The Pajot: the wheel has been cut into three slices - the center slice will be replaced with a piece of laminate, which is sitting underneath the pieces in front.

The DW (Double-wheel): It doesn't look much like a hurdy-gurdy, right?. It's actually a prototype we put together with Fischer-Technic toys (for ages 6 and up - guess I still qualify). The function of the prototype is to assess dimensions, ergonomics, and strap placement. A big thanks to my dear departed Great-Aunt Jane, who bought me the Fischer-Technics about 30 years ago.

That's not a hurdy-gurdy either - it's an old guitar-lute in need of some serious attention after an encounter with a flood. Here we're evaluating it for a repair estimate.
