The progress reports

Each week we update this page with new photos of instruments in progress. The updates will usually be sometime on Monday, which is the end of our work week.

We hope that you enjoy seeing the progress on your instrument and those of others who have them on order.

Week ending May 19, 2003

A few interuptions this week, so not as much shop time as we hoped for - I spent Monday at the U preparing for a site visit, so was absent from the shop.

VG38: the binding half finished

VG38: and all the way finished and half sanded down

VG40: drilling the peghead for the tuning machines

VG40: gluing on the tailpiece

VG40: the keys cut out and ready for fitting

VG40: with the peghead glued on

Esprit prototype: the soundboard cut to shape

Esprit prototype: the soundboard has been lasered

Esprit prototype: and the braces fitted, and the soundboard glued on - WOW! (I specifically did not ask Justin what the hammer was for here...)

VG32: a new method of masking the circuit boards for etching.

VG32: the design for the voltage regulator for the tuner being tested - it works. (Not shown: the circuit board that was masked backwards on our last piece of stock - grumph!)

Guitar-lute: several more ribs reglued, with thin filler pieces of maple veneer

I still haven't found the diskette with the daffodils and narcissi, but here's something almost better:

The irises in the shady dell are finally blooimg, with delicate little flowers.

I couldn't choose between the blue and the white, so you got both.;-)

The first of six vegetable beds has been constructed and mostly filled with fresh topsoil - almost a ton of it. It's a good thing we made the double gate so we could back the pickup truck right up to it.

OK, R.T., I've tortured you with enough flower pictures...

just some bridge gluing, no pictures, sorry.

See other weeks for more pictures.
