The progress reports Each week we update this page with new photos of instruments in progress. The updates will usually be sometime on Monday, which is the end of our work week. We hope that you enjoy seeing the progress on your instrument and those of others who have them on order. |

Week ending June 16, 2003
It was cooler this week, so we were more comfortable. The Caterpillar Invasion is beginning to slow, thankfully, though there are still thousands of them crawling everywhere. It was a pleasure to go to my brother-in-law's house for a Father's Day barbeque and to see not ONE caterpillar. And thank you for dinner, Jasper. (You know who you are ;-) )
VG32: the binding inlay sanded down and filled.
VG32: somewhere in this board is a fault that is draining the battery - I just need to find it... ;-(
LB05: the second rib fitted and glued in place
Guitar-lute: gluing the last of the seams - this procedure got progressively more difficult as the end approached, because of the deformation of the wood
Justin's VG: gluing on the peghead and the chanter bridge
AW's luteback: the shaft gets fitted with a pair of thrust collars, and remachined for our bearing system
AW's luteback: the new braces are glued in, with the original soundposts
MK's Pajot Jeune: the x-ray shows the size of the thrust collar and the square shaft
NQ's Colson: the shaft should be able to be unscrewed from the wheel if it can be released at the tail bearing end
JK's Pajot: removing three of the ivory plaques which had been previously replaced
JK's Pajot: patching the soundboard so the bridges can be reglued
Esprit prototype: masking is almost complete
Sorry, RT - we'd like more progress on the RTDWHG, but no time this week ;-(
In the garden, another load of garden mix soil arrives.
Cali waves from the completed circle of planters. In all we moved about 7 tons of planting mix, half of it this week with the completion of the last three beds.
Our faithful dog, Tippy, made a trip to the vet this week. She has pretty severe arthritis in her hip, and some in her spine. The anti-inflamatories seem to be helping her, fortunately.
See other weeks for more pictures. Please contact us if you have comments or questions about this page or other pages on this site.
