The progress reports

Each week we update this page with new photos of instruments in progress. The updates will usually be sometime on Monday, which is the end of our work week.

We hope that you enjoy seeing the progress on your instrument and those of others who have them on order.

 

Week ending September 1, 2003


 

VG36 - boring the peghead for the hidden tuning machines.

 

The tuner is in and the keybox is ready to be glued

Making a small Delrin spacer for one of the hidden tuners

 

A using a counterbore with a custom pilot for boring the peghead

 

Drilling the peghead for the chanter strings

 

More custom tools for fitting and installation

 

The grips for the hidden Schallers, with the flats milled to a slight angle

 

From the finishing room - I guess there are still some things that are under wraps. ;-)

 

VG36: the body with the keybox and peghead glued on


VG38 - more finish on the body and peghead


LB5 (JL) - gluing in the cloth strips to reinforce the seams

 

LB5 - gluing in the linings

 

LB5 - trimming the ribs flush with the interior head block

 

LB5: jointing the hard rock maple stock for the peghead

 

LB5 - bandsawing the peghead stock to rough size

 

LB5: laying out and cutting the planed peghead stock to length - the block at right will yield two pegheads


 

Esprit: more fitting the keys

ES2: a template for positioning the parts on the soundboard
