The progress reports

Each week we update this page with new photos of instruments in progress. The updates will usually be sometime on Monday, which is the end of our work week.

We hope that you enjoy seeing the progress on your instrument and those of others who have them on order.

Week ending March 31, 2003

VG36: the first tailpiece was a test piece - this is the real thing being fitted

VG40: final fitting the tailpiece

VG40: the peghead is inlaid and beginning the finishing process

VG40: the body and all the parts being finished

Justin's VG: gluing in the keybox top inlay

Justin's VG: finishing the soundboard

Colson: holding down the instrument for drilling out the current bearings and gluing in plugs to fill the holes

Lute-guitar: A set of eight "domes" and "mushrooms" for the bridge. The original is at left. Don't be fooled by their tiny size - they took ages to make ;-(

VG38: the sides are in the mold

VG38: cutting a thin piece of maple burl for the tail strip

VG39: the back linings are in and sanded down, ready for the braces

The King Alfred daffodils are blooming in the garden - a testament to your hard work, Graham. ;-)

VG32: laying out the back for cutting the access panels for the electronics

A new project: a kit for a filing machine.

RTDWHG: We're working on bridge positioning...

RTDWHG: ... and that's the conformation - now to translate this into something we can build. ;-)

If you'd like to see or hear more about the garden, I can post the pictures here.

See last week and other weeks for more pictures.
